Cherie and I were expecting to miss out on what was planned to be our 3rd annual Reitz family camping trip… planned for May 2020. We knew we’d have a 6-month-old around then and we weren’t sure we would be able to camp with him by then. But then Covid hit, and the trip had to be cancelled all together. We ended up camping with Ethan shortly after the original date but not with a big group.
Anyways, enough about Covid… the family was excited to get back to what has become an annual event many of us look forward to! And with most of us not getting together at Christmas in 2020 like we normally do (Covid surge…) many of us hadn’t seen each other since the reunion that we were able to hold in the summer of 2020.
Again we snagged the same site in Bald Eagle State Forest and took Friday off of work to head up in the daylight. This year it seemed we had more people that needed to come and go throughout the weekend but that was fine. We were happy to have anyone when and if they were available.
Rachel made a surprise appearance, she was able to join her mom last minute, which was a pleasant surprise! Many of us got to meet Tyler’s girlfriend Camille for the first time which was nice. Also noteworthy was that my Mom booked an RV for the weekend which was delivered and setup on-site. Dawn stayed in the 2nd bed in the RV, and my Dad ended up staying Saturday night in the RV as well after stopping by but not planning on staying on his way through from NC.
Overall it was a great weekend. The site continues to be improved each year. And our setup and level of comfort also seems to improve each year! Also noteworthy for us was of course that Ethan was there for the first time. This was only the 2nd time many of them had seen him and he was starting to more confidently stroll around on his own. The highlights for him were the people, the food, the bubbles, and oh, he enjoyed it all.
It was a great weekend, and we’ll have to do it again!
